Sophisticated, Sexy Fashions for Spring & Summer

by VIVE Katerin on November 16, 2013

Powerfully feminine and elegant. This is how I would describe Vincetta NYC by Deanna Ansara's Spring/Summer 2014 collection presented on the runway at See.Me Studios in the trendy, gentrifying NYC neighborhood of Long Island City.

Vincetta NYC’s Spring | Summer 2014 Collection is a modern take on silhouettes from the 1920’s -1940’s. Each piece is designed to flatter and emphasize a woman’s figure. The collection consists primarily of solids including muted lavender, ivory, & black. Yet, the collection would not be complete without Ansara’s signature use of detailed prints to make a bold statement. Prints include a beautiful black & white floral and an antique book print with pages from John Steinbeck’s classic American novel, “The Grapes of Wrath”.

The event was Ms. Ansara's first solo runway show, although Vincetta NYC was featured recently in Mercedes-Benz Buffalo (NY) Fashion Week. Fortunately, Ansara, a demure, but driven designer who worked for Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch and J. Crew before setting out on her own has plenty of runway show experience. A native of Michigan, Ansara began sewing at a young age, and first practiced her craft in her home state before moving to New York City to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) where she honed and refined her design skills. She relies on her own intuition for forecasting women's fashion trends and incorporates this into the direction of each season's collection.

The designer describes her aesthetic as classical and romantic with an underlying feeling of mystery and darkness. The description is an accurate portrayal of Ansara, as well as Vincetta's latest collection. Cookie-cutter, it is not. I believe the Vincetta NYC brand will appeal to women looking for a sexy and sophisticated cocktail dress. For more information visit
